About The Country Store Quilt Shop
The Country Store Quilt Shop opened in June of 2004 in a building that began it's life as a general store in the early 1920's. Located in the Shop Springs community in Wilson County, the country store eventually closed and lay vacant for years. Edna Forbes, a long time quilter and resident of Shop Springs, purchased the building a couple of years prior to the opening of the quilt shop. Edna recognized the beauty of the older architecture and it's original fixtures, hardwood flooring, and the large bright and beautiful windows on the front of the building. She had a dream of opening quilt shop in the store, and approached Margie Harris about the opportunity.
Margie jumped at the chance, as she too had a long time dream of opening her own quilt shop! Since the store was new to the community, she decided that a classroom environment would be a great way to bring in area quilters, and those that wanted to start their own quilting passion. This classroom environment teaches different quilting techniques, and the art involved in quilting. Margie was encouraged and helped along the way by fellow quilters and friends, as she is a life long resident of the area and had been involved in the local quilting community for many years.
Block of the Month
Sign up for our block of the month program, and at the end of the year, you’ll have a complete,
June 2013 Quilt Block
Over the years, Margie and many of the students in her classes have entered their quilts in local contests. Many of Margie's quilting creations have one prizes in the Wilson County Fair, which is the largest fair in the state of Tennessee. One such quilt won Margie first prize for color, fabric, design and pattern technique!
We would like to encourage you to come by and visit our humble shop. Don't miss out on our large, colorful selection of fabrics, kits, and quilts. Perhaps you too, will find inspiration for your own quilting passion to create beautiful quilts and crafts! Make the Country Store Quilt Shop a destination as you plan your next trip to Middle Tennessee and Wilson County! The store is still only open four days a week, as Margie still works as a full time nurse at area hospital. However, one day, she hopes that the store and her passion, can become her full time job.
We want to give thanks to all our friends for their love and support for all the years we've been in business. Thank you for your time and dedication you have bestowed to our humble quilt shop. And we encourage everyone to be part of our quilting family and see why quilting is our delight.
